Latitude 38
Oct. 23, 2009
Author:  Ron Hutchison
Category:  Fiction: Thriller
Description:  According to an essay recently published in the Wall Street Journal, the sociological divisions that plague America today will ultimately lead to geographic divisions in the future. The writer of the essay also stated that the U.S. might separate into provinces much like Canada, or city-states, much like the Roman Empire of 2,000 years ago. Latitude 38, an 80,000 word riveting suspense thriller is about a geographic division resulting from a sociological division.

Latitude 38 foretells the political and social future of this country. It reflects this broader mindset with the formation of two separate republics: País Nuevo, south of the 38th latitude, and the United Secular States of America to the north. The story plays out against a backdrop of swirling political and social change, but does not pass judgment, offer critiques, or aligns itself with either political philosophy. Above all this is a love story, not a political essay.

Other information:  This riveting novel has great promotional possibilities. Just think what a bloody field day bloggers and political analysts would have with the novel and concept of separate republics forming in the U.S. The likes of Glen Beck and Rush Limbaugh would surely love to weigh in on this issue.
