A Life In Stitches

A Life In Stitches

"Herron, who is young...enough to sit in bars and knit socks without looking like a nut, turns in honest, well-considered appraisals of choices she’s made, turns she’s taken, and people she’s known." Publishers Weekly

"Insightfully genius, and softly revealing, Stitches makes me grateful that Rachael Herron put down her needles long enough to pick up a pen." -- NYT Bestselling Author Josh Kilmer-Purcell, author of The Bucolic Life

When life unravels there's always a way to knit it back together again, many times into something even better. Honest, funny, and full of warmth, Herron's tales, each inspired by something she knit or something knit for her, will speak to anyone who has ever picked up a pair of needles. From her very first sweater (a hilarious disaster, to say the least) to the yellow afghan that caused a breakup (and, ultimately, a breakthrough), every piece has a moving story behind it. This beautifully crafted and candid collection is perfect for the knitter who loves to read and the reader who loves to knit.

Wishes & Stitches

Wishes & Stitches

"Wishes and Stitches delivers a heroine with enough issues to be convincingly difficult to love, a hero who’s immensely likeable, several steamy love scenes, and a comfortably familiar small town setting. All in all, a pleasant read for a fall afternoon." - New York Journal of Books

It has always been Naomi Fontaine’s dream to practice small-town medicine—an ambition that brought her to Cypress Hollow, the charming, tight-knit community her late friend, knitting guru Eliza Carpenter, loved so well. But no matter how hard she tries, Naomi can’t seem to fit in here. Then rugged Rig Keller moves in to take over half of Naomi’s medical practice, and instantly charms everyone in town . . . including Naomi.

Rig saw what a broken relationship did to his brother, and has no interest whatsoever in getting serious. But the temptation to play doctor with his new partner is just too strong to resist. Any chance they might have of being truly knit together by love, however, depends entirely on what secrets they are willing to reveal . . . and on Rig’s willingness to risk his heart and Naomi’s desire to open hers completely.

"Herron's sweet, comforting tale comes with a built-in surprise: the knitted pattern to Ruby's Bookstore Sweater included in the back." - Publishers Weekly

"With its realistically eccentric characters and quietly humorous writing, How to Knit a Heart Back Home is completely captivating." - Chicago Tribune

“Rachael Herron's star is on the rise. Her first novel is a warm, witty, sexy love story with charming lead characters who have chemistry to spare. A must-read for knitters and non-knitters alike.” – Barbara Bretton, USA Today Bestselling Author

4 Stars, "Intricate and clever," with "down-home sense." - Romantic Times

The first book in the Cypress Hollow Yarn series, in which a rancher's way of life is threatened by a woman trying to escape her past, from HarperCollins (Avon A).

When Abigail inherits a cottage from her beloved mentor, knitting guru Eliza Carpenter, it's the perfect chance for a new start, a safe haven. But Eliza's nephew Cade, who works the ranch her inheritance is on, isn't happy with the loss of the cottage he thought would be his, and he's even less pleased that she's going to make it into a knitting shop. While Cade struggles to accept these changes, Abigail fights a terror she thought she left behind, and both of them are fighting their attraction to each other. The knitter and the rancher are falling in love, but they'll need more than infatuation: From seeds of doubt and suspicion, can trust ever bloom?

Rachael Herron received her MFA in English and Creative Writing from Mills College. She lives in Oakland, CA with her family and has way more animals than she ever planned to, though no sheep or alpacas (yet). She learned to knit at the age of five, and generally only puts the needles down to eat, write, or sleep, and sometimes not even then.
