* Leah Ingram's CASH FOR CLUTTER: The Suddenly Frugal Guide to Getting Organized and Making Money from Your Stuff, a follow-up to the author's Suddenly Frugal: How To Live Happier and Healthier for Less, detailing how to make money while simplifying your life, again to Adams Media, for publication in Fall 2010.

* Forbes writer Kiri Blakeley's HARD WIRED: WHAT MY GAY FIANCE TAUGHT ME ABOUT SEX, LOVE, AND LIFE, about the aftermath of her decade-long romance ending with the revelation that her fiance was gay, to Citadel, by Jamie Brenner.

* In a unique deal inspired by the father-son addiction memoirs separately written (and published) by David Sheff (Beautiful Boy) and his son Nic (Tweak), Adam Chromy of Artists and Artisans closed a two-book deal with HarperCollins's It Books imprint for a mother-son perspective on addiction, selling a pair of memoirs by Steven Adler and his mother, Deanna Adler. Adler, the former drummer for Guns N' Roses who has made headlines more recently for his often jarringly unsuccessful attempts to fight his longtime heroin habit on the VH-1 reality show Celebrity Rehab, has signed to write My Appetite for Destruction for Mauro DiPreta. DiPreta acquired world rights to that title along with Sweet Child of Mine, which will be written by Deanna Adler. The books are slated to drop at the same time, in 2010, and will be coauthored by Lawrence J. Spagnola.

* North American rights to Donia Bijan's memoir, Maman's Homesick Pie. Andra Miller at Algonquin won the book about the chef's discovery of her mother's pie recipes after her death, at auction. Bijan's mother had fled Iran after being persecuted for running a feminist-minded medical practice, and the pie recipes, all for American standards, represented one of her significant attempts at assimilation.

Jamie Brenner sruck a YA deal for Wendy Delsol's debut novel, Stork. Jennifer Yoon at Candlewick bought world English rights to the book, which follows an L.A. teen who moves to Minnesota, where she discovers a mysterious cadre of women who can place souls on Earth. Candlewick's slated the book for 2010.

* Divorce mediators Diana Mercer, JD (co-author of Your Divorce Advisor) and Katie Jane Wennechuk's WHEN DIVORCE WORKS, giving divorcing couples a set of skills to successfully orchestrate their divorce, handle the legal and emotional issues harmoniously, and redefine and preserve the positive elements of their relationship, to Perigee, for publication in Fall 2010, by Jamie Brenner.

* Shaye Areheart won an auction for Stacey McGlynn's first novel, Keeping Time, for her imprint at Harmony, via Adam Chromy and Jamie Brenner at Artists and Artisans. The book tells the story of a British septuagenarian whose quest to return an engagement gift from her wartime love brings her to the Long Island home of her quirky American relatives and leads to a cross-country odyssey that changes the lives of all involved. McGlynn holds an M.F.A. in screenwriting from Columbia; so far, six-figure translation deals have been struck in Italy and Germany, and rights have also gone in Brazil and Holland. Harmony has North American rights.

* Bloomsbury Children's Books has acquired the world rights to the next YA book from Susanne Dunlap. The story is about a doomed romance for Anastasia Romanov set against the Russian revolution. Dunlap, a Musicologist, weaves early music into her novels and is the author of the adult books Emilie's Voice and Liszt's Kiss at Touchstone. Bloomsbury has just published Dunlap's debut YA effort The Musician's Daughter.

* Jossey-Bass editor Karen Murphy has acquired world rights to Jam! Run Your Business Like a Rock Star, by former lead guitarist for 38 Special Jeff Carlisi and Dan Lipson with Jay Busbee via Adam Chromy at Artists and Artisans. Carlisi and Lipson will apply principles from their team-building, rock 'n'roll fantasy corporate retreats, in which groups come together to form a rock band under the tutelage of seasoned rockers, to the workplace.

* In her first buy for Shaye Areheart Books, senior editor Sarah Knight acquired world rights to a debut novel by McCann Erickson creative director Nancy Mauro called New World Monkeys; Jamie Brenner at Artists & Artisans made the sale after submitting it to Knight on her first day at Random. Mauro's novel follows an ad exec and a Ph.D. candidate as they negotiate their failing marriage among the bizarre, vengeful residents of an upstate New York community; attempt to cover up their accidental murder of the town's mascot, a wild boar; and unearth the skeleton of a family nanny from the garden. Pub date is 2009.

* Riverhead exec editor Jake Morrissey won world rights from Adam Chromy to David Ellis Dickerson's HOUSE OF CARDS, in which the crossword puzzle designer and frequent contributor to This American Life explains how writing greeting cards at Hallmark led the former evangelical Christian to lose his religion and virginity, while discovering just how many ways there are to say “Happy Valentine's Day.”

* Berkley exec editor Denise Silvestro won world rights from Jamie Brenner to Erica Rivera's INSATIABLE, in which the single mother recounts how she confronted her addiction to an eating disorder comprising starvation, bingeing and compulsive exercise. Rivera writes for the Minnesota Star Tribune.

* Journalist James McCommons' WAITING ON A TRAIN, a look at the current state and future of the nation's rail system, to Shay Totten at Chelsea Green, for publication in Fall 2009, by Adam Chromy at Artists and Artisans (world).
