McCracken is a journalist with more than a dozen years of international experience. She has reported on everything from the last remaining leper colony in Europe (Romania) to the motorbike madness of the streets of Saigon.

McCracken is currently researching a book on a string of murders that occurred between the world wars, carried out by a group of women in a Hungarian village.
