DEADWEATHER AND SUNRISE (Chronicles of Egg, Book 1) by Geoff Rodkey (Putnam, May '12)
|
On May 23, 2011, Hannigan Salky Getzler Agency was established. Designed to navigate the changing world of 21st Century book publishing, HSG is devoted to representing its clients in both the most traditional ways and, as the industry continues to shift, in ways not even conceived of until a short time ago. I am one of the three principals in HSG, alongside my former Russell and Volkening colleagues Carrie Hannigan and Jesseca Salky.
I represent fiction and nonfiction (mostly fiction, more than half of which is crime-related (mystery, thriller, creepy...)), adult and YA/middle-grade (though not picture books).
I am particularly into foreign and historical thrillers and mysteries, so send me your ruthless doges and impious cardinals...and your farmhouse cozies! Give me atmosphere, let me learn something about another time or another place (or both), and kill off nasty Uncle Mortimer in the process--I'll be yours! I take middle grade and YA mystery or adventure series, but not so much fantasy, and definitely not picture books. (There are many others who specialize in these books.) And please don't send religious fiction--I don't have contacts in the Christian book market.
NOTE: Transitions from place to place are time consuming and cause even greater inefficiencies that typical workload delays. I realize I've never even caught up from my last move, and I'm afraid the ugly truth is that it's taking me WAY longer than I would like to respond to queries--despite my best efforts. I'm making serious efforts to improve, however, and if you have submitted to me and not received a response, please hang in there. Thank you in advance for your patience. I look forward to hearing from you.
My story: Left Harcourt in 1993 to get my MBA. After Business School I spent 11 years owning and operating a minor league baseball team. I got out of baseball in late 2006 and rejoined the book world on the agent side. I worked at Writers House until November 2009, building a list of novelists, YA and children's book authors, and the occasional
nonfiction writer; then moved on to R&V, where I was an agent until May 2011.
Also, I am the Tuesday blogger on Hey, There's a Dead Guy in the Living Room. http://heydeadguy.typepad.com/heydeadguy/
