This writer is looking for an agent.
My background includes founding my own advertising agency and growing it to one of America's Top 100 agencies. I have been a writer throughout my career, winning numerous regional and national ADDY awards annually. My writings have also garnered first place awards in the International, New York and Chicago Film Festivals competitions. My agency's clients have included: Bass Pro Shops; the Brunswick Corporation and ten divisions thereof, including bowling, billiards, marine (Sea Ray and Bayliner), outdoor (Ben Pearson Archery, Mc Gregor golf, Red Head Hunting Wear, Traveler Camping, Doll Lures, Zebco Fishing Tackle); two divisions of DuPont (Stren fishing line and Remington arms); The National Rifle Association; Pizza Hut; Rubbermaid (Gott division) and many other nationally and internationally recognized corporations and the brand names thereof.
I also developed and patented fourteen products for use in in-store advertising. This series of products is known as the Shoppers' Calculators. They were in all of the Wal-Mart's plus over 2,000 grocery outlets. Nielsen research in Wal-Mart validated a 10% increase in the average transaction size, an average of over 28% increase in advertised products and a customer-satisfaction rating of 8.6 on a scale of 1-10. These were the products of the ADDvantage Media Group, Inc. which I also founded and later took public.
I have since worked as a consultant to numerous private and public companies. I also have since self-published a book, "Wal-Mart's EGOnmics -- The Greed Behind the Smiley Face. This is a non-fiction account of my life as a vendor and advertising agent for the world's largest -- and greediest -- retailer in the world. All reviews have been outstanding, ranging from the Kirkus review which described the book as "A well-crafted personal tale of business gone bad ... Hood writes well ... after reading this book it will likely be difficult for the reader not to accept the author's claim that Wal-Mart is a corporate villain; to the FIVE STAR rating given by ForeWord, whose description stated that it is "an incredible book."
I have served as a member of the "Advertising Age" Editorial Review Board, the Board of Directors of the American Association of Advertising Agencies (AAAA); the Board of Directors of the Point of Purchase Advertising Institute (POPAI) and am currently a member of the Advisory Board of the University of Tulsa School of journalism. I am also a graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism.
